Geography of Nepal
Nepal is a landlocked country located in South Asia. It measures about 880 kilometers and has an area of 147,516 square kilometers(56,956 square mi). Nepal is bordered by China from the north and India from the south, east and west. Geographically, Nepal is divided into three regions : Himalayan region, Hilly region and Terai region. The highest point in Nepal is Mount Everest (8,848 m) and the lowest point is in the Terai plains of Kechana Kalan situated in Jhapa(60m).

Himalayan region is a mountainous region containing snow, It covers 15% of the total area of Nepal, It mostly lies in the northern part. Himalayas include the highest mountains in the world (Mt. Everest) with more than 110 peaks rising to elevations of 7,300m from sea level, Mainly the mountain high peaks rise into perpetual snow zone. (located in northern and southern hemisphere areas) The population of the mountain region of Nepal is 17,81,792, The cultivation of this region are grain amaranth, buckwheat, millets, rice bean etc. crops farming. Fruits farming is the main in this region specially apple. The climate of himalayan region is variation (hot, warm, cool, cold and very cold).
Mount Everest
Hilly Region (Pahad)
Hilly region is located to the south of Himalayan region. It covers 68% of the total area of Nepal. It rises mostly between 1,000m and 4,000 meters in altitude. Capital city of Nepal "Kathmandu Valley" is also lies in this region which is also the country`s most fertile and urbanized area. It`s mostly areas are covered by forests which contains tropical forests, temperate forests, alpine forests etc. In hilly region, a huge amount of tea cultivation is done as well as coffee, And different types of crops like maize, soybeans, beans or other types of similar plants, The total population of hilly region is 1,13,94,007. In this region all types of peoples are lives with different caste, cultures and languages. The climate of hilly region is pleasant climate.
Rice Terrace
Terai Region
Terai region is located in the lower Southern part of Nepal. It coves 17% of the total area of Nepal. It rises about 700m to 1,000 meters. This region is the most suitable region for crops cultivation. The major crops found in this region are sugarcane, rice, tobacco, maize, paddy, wheat, pulses etc. This region is also known as "Grain House of Nepal'. The total population of Terai region is 1,38,18,705. The climate of Terai region is moderate in winter and hot, extremely hot in summer. The landform of this region is plain in lower parts and little slope in higher parts.
